Our board of directors bring a wealth of industry experience and knowledge to Momentum Life, providing principled and strategic governance to the business.
Thomas Grogan is a Non-Executive Director of Momentum Life. He has over 45 years of insurance industry experience across Australia & New Zealand. He recently retired from Hannover Re, where he began his career in 1972.
With a wealth of industry experience that spans Reinsurance, Group, Retail & Direct insurance, Thomas retired from Hannover Re as the General Manager of Business Development. Thomas oversaw the growth and profitability development of Hannover Re’s life business portfolio in Australia and New Zealand, including the acquisition of the company’s largest direct distribution client. He was also directly responsible for managing the underwriting, claims and actuarial pricing teams.
He became a qualified accountant in 1977 and completed an Advanced Management Program through the University of Hawaii.
Lloyd Cartwright is an Executive Director of Momentum Life. He is a senior financial services leader with extensive local and international experience in building businesses, driving superior client outcomes, delivering growth, and developing high-performing teams. He sets a powerful future vision, empowers people, innovates, and creates a holistic environment of success.
During his extensive career in banking and finance, he has held executive roles with Westpac, National Australia Bank, Bankers Trust and China Construction Bank, spanning New Zealand, Singapore, Sydney, London and New York.
Lloyd has been a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee since 2017 and is currently a Member of the Board of Trustees on the Wood Hill Sand Equestrian Trust. Lloyd lives on an Equine property in Auckland with Emma and Gatley and far too many animals to name.
Chris is a senior corporate / technology lawyer and commercial and governance adviser. She has more than 30 years’ experience advising and working with government and industry, including board and advisory board governance roles.
Chris’ prior roles include partner of two national New Zealand law firms (Duncan Cotterill and Minter Ellison Rudd Watts) and a specialist commercial law firm in Auckland, and practicing at global law firm Linklaters in London.
Chris is Honorary Consul for Finland in Auckland, President of the New Zealand Scandinavia Business Association and a member of the NZ Institute of Directors.
